ASTM A182 F53 fasteners are made from a super duplex stainless steel alloy with about 25% chromium, 7% nickel, and 4% molybdenum, in addition to nitrogen for improved pitting resistance. These ingredients provide excellent corrosion resistance in aggressive conditions. Mechanically, they have a tensile strength of about 800 MPa and a yield strength of about 550 MPa, with great toughness and fatigue life, and their balanced austenitic-ferritic microstructure offers strength and resistance to stress corrosion cracking, thus being excellent for high-pressure and high-temperature conditions where reliability and strength are essential.
